Oh It's ON Now!

(Originally March 15 2006)

I got a Comment from a bloggersby, which really lit my fire. I guess I know why we blog now--! Ain't nothing like an audience to feedback the deal, although the process is therapeutic.

So since last entry, I decided that I like my job enough to know I'll do anything to keep it. And in keeping it, I can now expect a regular paycheck. SO...I returned a call from a creditor and made a payment deal. Then today I actually initiated ANOTHER call to arrange the same type of thing with another one.

That's me DOING the damn thing.

Two down and six to go. I put it in a spreadsheet and am plotting out all my payments until the end of the year. Every time I make a payment (or let them take it out of my bank) is another time that I win back my adult life. Hello responsibility. Hello manhood. Goodbye financial phobia. Goodbye economic slavery.

And then, know what else? Yesterday morning was my first time back into a gym. That's right--I'm getting rid of this insane gut. I'm fatter now than I've EVER been and I'm just not having it anymore. My friend The Grim Jester said that he understood that I was depressed but...and then he pointed to my belly (that hairy, buff little bastard). My poor belly. It's no Zelnorm commercial anymore--it's a pregnancy.

So I've got a six-week program of serious gym work. I got it from April's Muscle & Fitness, which has menus and which exact exercises to perform.

It's ON.

The important thing about making a spreadsheet is realizing that you took a long time to get into this much debt, and it will not go away over night.

Trust me, I speak from experience here.

The good news is, having a spreadsheet is, as you've already started to feel, a totem to hold on to when you're feeling like it's all too much: you made a plan, you did the adult thing and you can keep doing it.

Good luck with that.

PS: I hope to hear from you before our kids are off to college....
