My Hat In The Rink

Okay, so this could be a butchering of the facts--a hatchet job of a series of out of context sound bytes cobbled together to make this man look bad. But if even one of this segments is true, you have to know it.

Perhaps Obama has had his slip ups and contradictory speeches, and so I'll expect a similar hatchet job to show up on him if it exists. But if one does exist, do you think it will look as bad as McCain's? Give me someone vital, rather than McCain. Give me someone who can ably address the world in global courts. Give me someone to inspire confidence in a nation again, from without and within. And for a fringe benefit, give me a guy who'll improve the chances for kids of my skin color to grow up in a better country, with better chances to be regarded as a US citizen than I did and my father before me, and his father before him.

I am getting the feeling that Obama is going to win hands down. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I can help you with that, Scott. Just put yourself in my place and think how much it means to me. Think how desperately I want to be represented and have some faith in the citizens of my country. How badly I want to belong to the country I was born in, and how, by electing a man of color (if elections aren't rigged) my country will be telling be, "See? We DON'T have anything against you because of your skin tone. Now stop complaining about it all the time!" Which I will more than gladly do.

Politics being as they are, Scott, Obama can't do worse than anyone else running for the office. He could only do better. Same goes for McCain. Or Palin. Or Biden. They can't do worse than history's worst President (which I leave up to the reader to determine who that was. Because everyone has their own). They can only do better.

I don't think GW will go down in history as the worst we've ever had. He may turn out to have done the right thing against popular opinion. But this generation has to die off first until some objectivity will be allowed into the equation.

It might be important to you that Obama gets elected because he is black, just like it may be important that Palin gets in for being a woman, but none of that matters to me next to the actual issues. I'm worried what high taxes to corporations does to the economy, especially in light of current events.

Here comes the incredibly uneducated, blinders on opinion. I am not black. I'm not even black a little bit by having had a black man inside me. I suppose I could be considered a minority as a female. I will be voting for Obama, hands down, no wavering, not a question in my mind. From what I have seen (and its not a lot) this man and his wife have some class. I am tired of the white man running the country. That's all we know. That's all that's been done. Let's do different. And I don't mean by electing an old guy who's gonna bing off so that Hot Grandma to be Milf can be the VP as a by product. I don't care if she can shoot the bacon and fry it up in a pan.

Obama for me. All the way.

and having said that, I do also agree with this statement of Scott's - But this generation has to die off first until some objectivity will be allowed into the equation.

I understand your viewpoint, Scott. That's why I said that you'd have to put yourself in my place in order not to feel badly if Obama gets elected. That's all I can offer. :-(
