Now What Have We Learned?

Ever notice how the only time anyone likes Daylight Savings' Time is when it's over? When we get the hour back that they stole from us, doesn't everything go back to normal? Even though it's horribly dark at 5:00p now?

Dear President Obama;

Please end Daylight Savings Time.

Thank you,

Your friend
Alan

P.S.
Thank you for winning the election and shattering the glass ceiling for all black people. Now please don't screw this up. It would really suck if they looked back in history and said "See what happened when we let one of them become the President?"

I hate DST, too, but it has something to do with a supposed advantage in the global financial markets (and nothing to do with farmers' something or other as the spin goes), so if it's all about money, it will never go away.

The apocryphal tale is that DST goes back to ol' Ben Franklin, who rode his horse around one morning in the summer in the wee hours and wondered why everyone else was abed. So, here we are, forced to turn into morning people every spring...

Secondly, with regards to President Obama, what do Deep Impact; seasons 1, 2, 3, and 6 of 24; and The Fifth Element have in common?

All I know is that I was looking forward to daylight savings time, because it would have given me another hour of daylight in which to run without tripping over roots or getting run over by a bus. But NOOOOO.

Color me pissed. It got dark - and I'm talking run-trails-and-die dark, at 5:30 today.

(Go Obama.)
